YA Activities:
Saturday, May 12: Movie Matinee, 1:30 P.M. Movie Rating: PG13 New Year’s Eve brings about changes in the lives of several couples and singles in New York. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult, and the parent/adult must remain with the child(ren) during the program.
Tuesday, May 15: Salsa/Ballroom Dancing with Mr. Kevin, 4 P.M. A dancing workshop for teens, tweens (11+) and adults. Come join the fun and learn the basic dance steps.
Thursday, May 17: Duct Tape Workshop, 4 P.M. For teens, tweens (11+) and adults. Please remember to bring a role or two of duct tape in your favorite color or pattern to make your creation.
Saturday, May 19 Movie Matinee, 1:30 P.M. Movie Rating: PG13 Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin’s bail-bond business where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past. Based on a novel by Janet Evanovich. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult, and the parent/adult must remain with the child(ren) during the program.
Tuesday, May 22: Artist Trading Card Workshop, 4 P.M. For teens, tweens (11+) and adults. Come learn how to create your own cards to trade with your friends.
Thursday, May 24: Movie Matinee, 1:30 P.M. Movie Rating: Not Rated From the Revolutionary War Battles at Lexington and Concord through the Vietnam War to the present, African-Americans have played a major role in helping to defend our Country. Ten years in the making, this documentary acknowledges the sacrifices and accomplishments of these heroic men and women. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult, and the parent/adult must remain with the child(ren) during the program.
Saturday, May 26: Movie Matinee, 1:30 P.M. Movie Rating: PG13 Based on the true adventures of a crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee training program. Having faced segregation while kept mostly on the ground during World War II, they are called into duty under the guidance of Colonel A. J. Bullard who fought in Washington to give these men a chance to prove themselves in the battle against the Nazis. This film was released to theaters in early 2012.
Tuesday, May 29 Basic Songwriting Workshop by Singer/Songwriter Trevis Prince, 4 P.M. For teens 12 to 18. Teen participants will learn the basic melody structure and pattern, tempo, music measure, rhythm, timing, songwriting structure and patterns, lyric choice and creative thinking. Seating may be limited. Advance registration with Ms. Sharon is requested either by email (sfiske@flaglercounty.org) or phone call – 446-6763. Teens & Tweens (11+) don’t forget to sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Adventure which begins on Monday, June 11, at 1 P.M. The program will meet every Monday during June and July at 1 P.M.
